FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

do i need a referral?

If you have seen your GP regarding your problem, it is helpful to bring along a referral. However, you do not need a referral from your doctor unless you are being treated under the Department of Veterans’ Affairs scheme (for vertigo)

can i claim through medicare?

We are able to provide care under the Chronic Disease Management Scheme, where a GP Management Plan (GPMP) and Team Care Arrangements (TCAs) have been developed. You will be required to pay the usual consultation fee in full, and we can then process your Medicare rebate immediately.

how much will i get back from my private health fund?

All funds are different and the amount you can claim will also differ according to the level of "extras" cover you hold. We recommend that you contact your health fund to ask how much you will get back. The item number for an Initial Consultation is 500, the item for a Standard Consultation is 505. Rebates can be claimed on the spot via HICAPS. Please remember to bring your health fund card with you.

will the assessment make me feel dizzy?

Often the Vestibular examination will reproduce some short lasting symptoms. We recommend, where possible, to have someone to drive you home.
